Adam Rivette is the Co-Founder of Barrel Backers, an online platform to discover great craft beers and get them delivered to your door. Adam grew up the son of an Army Officer. He attended West Point, and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. He served for nine months in the same battalion as his brother. Adam deployed to Iraq in 2006. He finished his career at the Ranger Training Brigade. After leaving the Army in 2009, Adam attended grad school in Europe.
Adam learned about entrepreneurship while working at a startup in New York City (GOJEE which was acquired) and later at another startup in San Francisco. He and his brother came up with the idea for Barrel Backers while talking to a friend who started Service Brewing in Savannah, GA (Founded by another Veteran Entrepreneur).
On working for another startup:
There were a lot of things I did not know about starting and running a business that I was able see and not having to be the business owner
It’s not guaranteed to work out the way you want it to just because it sounds nice
Talk to 100 people before you do anything. You might find out that they actually don’t care at all, and they actually have a different problem
