Tom grew up in the Midwest and was inspired by his older brother who went West Point. Tom followed in his footsteps and also attended the United States Military Academy. He was commissioned in 2008 and deployed to Iraq as a Convoy Security Platoon Leader. He also served as a Headquarters Company Commander within a Special Forces Group.
Tom started writing before he left the Army and talks about how his “Side Hustle” helped him be successful later on as a full time entrepreneur. Tom knew nothing about publishing but he used the skills he learned in the Army to figure it out and start Insurgent Publishing. Tom has some great advice for Veteran Entrepreneurs who want to get started:
Don’t Get Wrapped Up in the superficial stuff or the trivial stuff. Don’t worry about a name or a title or even entities.. the first thing you have to do if you want to start a business is sell …if you can sell something you can start a business. “
