Craig Cummings is the Co-Founder of APX Labs, BTS Software Solutions, and RideScout (I interviewed Co-Founder Joseph Kopser in Episode 13). He is also an investor in multiple companies to include Betamore, Bitium, and ID.me (I interviewed CEO Blake Hall in Episode 5).
Craig grew up in Northern Virginia. His father was an Air Force Colonel, and his two older brothers are Army veterans. All three brothers attended West Point. He served for 17 years in the United States Army before leaving to become a entrepreneur. You read that correctly. He left a successful Army career after 17 years, just three years short of retirement to become an entrepreneur.
Craig Co-Founded RideScout with his West Point classmate Joseph Kopser in 2011. After building the company and brand for three years, RideScout was acquired by Daimler.
Craig has this to say to aspiring Veteran Entrepreneurs:
I would absolutely encourage veterans to pursue this path…If you can live with the fact that you might fail, and that’s ok…you can do it…there is no better status symbol right now than to be a veteran entrepreneur. People want us to succeed…we have spent careers defending the American Dream of business ownership, and now it is our time to participate in that dream of business ownership.
